Studio Apparatus Intimate Spring Wedding
I’m going to describe to you my 2020 experience
in the only way I know how: with Disney movie references.
You know in Aladdin where the Genie wants to use his gifts to serve others, but he’s been trapped alone and isolated in a small space for 10,000 years and unable to? Then, when he finally is free, he starts showing off and somewhat goes over the top, but then at the end of his routine everyone is singing along and happy. That oddly resonates with me. (I too had a crick in my neck after carrying around my camera all day after 7 months off.) The point being, I am so excited to be shooting weddings again, even if they look differently than originally planned. This post will make a case for small, intimate weddings.
Liz and Dan were married in May right as quarantine was being lifted. They had their wedding at Studio Apparatus, where Nikki Jilek, Dear Hyssop, Meghan Rust Design, and I were able to collaborate and design the look and feel of their day. It was so beautiful, and will forever be a special wedding to me. It was a good reminder that when things are stripped away or don’t go according to our plans, there is still meaning, beauty and connection, and you can see it that much more clearly.
