Wedding Trend: Reading Vows Privately

First of all,

who doesn’t love these little vow books that you get to keep forever?

I wanted to talk about the latest wedding trend that I have been loving, mainly because I still get to witness it, even though it’s *technically* private. Reading vows privately (sometime) during your wedding day can be a beautiful and intimate moment between you and your boo. Here are some reasons to go for it:

  1. Increased intimacy: Reading vows privately will create a more intimate setting, allowing you to express your deepest feelings and emotions to your partner without any distractions or interruptions, or anyone else hearing. Even I take a step back and shoot further back with a zoom lens so that you can truly get into the moment.

  2. Less pressure: Public speaking can be nerve-wracking, especially in front of a large audience. Reading your vows privately can relieve the pressure and anxiety associated with public speaking and allow you to express yourself freely.

  3. More personalized: Reading vows privately allows you to personalize your vows to your partner without worrying about how they will be perceived by the audience. You can use inside jokes, personal stories, or other intimate details that may or may not be suitable for a public setting :)

  4. More time: When reading vows publicly, you are limited by time constraints or the pressure to keep it short and sweet. Reading vows privately allows you to take your time and say everything you want to say to your partner without feeling rushed. We can easily incorporate several minutes into your wedding day schedule to accommodate this!

  5. A special moment: Reading vows privately can create a special and intimate moment between you and your partner that you will remember for years to come. It can be a time to reflect on your relationship, express your love and commitment to one another, and set the tone for the rest of your wedding day.

This doesn’t mean that you don’t read any vows during your ceremony. Maybe you recite the pre-written, more formal ones in front of your guests, and then read your private ones after the ceremony during your time together. Overall, reading vows privately can be a beautiful and meaningful way to express your love and commitment to your partner on your wedding day that you will remember FOR-EV-ER.
