Cady Acres, Wisconsin Outdoor Summer Wedding
Kelsey and Josh were married this summer at Cady Acres just outside Menomonie, Wisconsin. The venue is located about 1 hour east of the Twin Cities and it is surrounded by Amish farms. It has an outdoor ceremony area in the grass surrounded by trees and fields, and a wooden barn for the reception, or anything you want to have under a roof. There are two getting ready spaces, although one is a grain mill? Or something farm-y?
I got there in the morning while Kelsey was getting ready, and it was raining. Rain on your wedding day is beautiful, so I never worry about it and always want to reassure everyone, especially the bride! However, the rain cleared up just in time for their outdoor ceremony on the lawn, and then they had a cocktail hour and reception inside the rustic barn.
I have known Kelsey, the bride, since middle school where we grew up in the same church in Grand Forks, ND. Kelsey’s dad passed away several years ago, and in honor of him, his neckties were used as part of the bride’s floral bouquet, along with her sister’s. I thought that was a very special reminder of him, something you could hold onto, see and carry with you throughout the day. It was also a way where the memory of him could still walk her down the aisle.
I loved being the wedding photographer for this laid-back day with Kelsey and Josh. They kept re-iterating how they don’t always (ok never) like to be in front of the camera, but we made it fun and natural for them. It was a beautiful day. Congrats Kelsey and Josh!
How have I not written you yet!?! Bridget, the photos are amazing and we are so thankful for you! I cannot stop smiling whenever I look through them....which is often 😊 You captured the day perfectly! Thank you!!
