Tettegouche Sunrise Along the Lake Superior Coast

A few weeks ago I traveled up to northern Minnesota to capture these lovebirds in the area where they got engaged. Heidi and James met Luke and me at 4:50 AM to catch the sunrise over Lake Superior. It was gorgeous! The rocky terrain of the north shore makes me weirdly giddy because my grandpa taught geology, so I guess I just instinctively love rocks now. I was hyped up for this shoot. We had so much fun hanging out together, being immersed in nature and listening to the sound of the crashing waves of Superior.

After the session, we all got breakfast together in a cute diner and then Luke and I tried to hike around the state park. I say β€œtried” because we got 30 feet into a 2.1 mile hike and a snake crossed Luke’s path. He started running toward the entrance of the trail screaming, β€œI’m sorry Bridget, I’m not made for this! Let’s go get pie!” in front of a troop of Boy Scouts. I’ve never loved the man more.
