Yeah, Mon's and I Love You's

About a year ago, my childhood friend Sadie contacted me about shooting her destination wedding in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  I get excited about all of my wedding inquiries, but needless to say, this one was very special. I think I screamed. And then started shaking because I was so excited/nervous/excited.

First of all, Sadie and I have known each other since 1st grade. We really hit our stride in 2nd grade, and bonded over our love of random Japanese toys: Keroppi and Tamagotchi, and our hatred of the electronic robot Furby. That thing can die.

I have a very distinct memory of wanting to claim Sadie as my best friend forever, so naturally as all elementary school kids think, I needed to give her a Best Friend necklace. I begged my mom to take me across state lines to get to the nearest Claire's store, where I was able to find a set of BFF necklaces. I think they were dolphins. I gave one half to Sadie immediately.

Throughout the next couple weeks and months, one necklace after another broke or was lost. After the fourth set, Sadie's mom kindly reminded us, "You don't need necklaces to be best friends." Thanks for the life lesson, Ranae.

Being able to still be apart of Sadie's life many years later, in however small a way, is something I just can't get over. It's so cool. Thanks for including me in your wedding day, Sadie and Alex.
